"The Importance of Financial Literacy: Evidence from 10 Years of Data"
The lecture will cover the findings from ten years of data of the Personal Finance Index (P-Fin Index), a barometer of financial literacy. The P-Fin Index is unique in its capacity to provide a robust measure of overall financial knowledge using 28 questions and allowing a nuanced analysis of personal finance knowledge across eight areas in which individuals routinely function. In addition to describing how financial literacy has changed over time and across demographic groups, the presentation will also highlight the links between financial knowledge and behaviors and the implications of the findings for teaching, policy and programs.
